In Australia at least one woman is killed every week by an intimate partner. Children are also victims in these homicides.
The Candle Lighting Vigil is held annually on the National Day to remember those who have lost their lives due to domestic and family violence.
On Wednesday 7 May, 2025 at 5.30pm our annual Candle Lighting Vigil will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sky Room & Terrace, Cnr Merivale and Glenelg Streets, South Brisbane.
Since 2005 Candle Lighting Vigils have taken place annually across Australia with the first being in Queensland and organised by the 15 members of the Queensland Domestic Violence Services Network.
