Systems and law reform
We advocate for systemic change and law reform that will lead to improved outcomes for the safety of the community.
Our impact includes:
- We were part of a collective alliance called the Domestic Violence Death Review Action Group (DVDRAG), resulting in a Queensland Domestic Violence Death Review and Advisory Board in the Coroner’s Court
- The formation of ReSound, elevating the voices of survivors to inform government policy
- CEO Karyn Walsh called for law reform of pre-social media stalking reform, was involved the in the Queensland Human Rights Bill, and is a member of Queensland DFV Prevention Council
- We're regularly called on to consult, advise, support, and educate on the issue of domestic and family violence.
Integrating services
Part of systems reform involves working with other agencies through an integrated service model.
We are the lead agency for the Brisbane region High Risk Team (HRT), a multi-agency team that includes Queensland Corrective Services, Queensland Police Service, Child Safety, Department of Justice and Attorney General (Courts), Department of Housing & Public Works, Youth Justice, Queensland Health and Victims Assist Queensland.
Together, we coordinate case management, support, and a justice response for each individual or family.
